Scholarship Information
It is impossible to estimate the contribution a teacher makes to our nation, to society, and to those he or she teaches during a lifetime of service to the teaching profession.
The Florida Retired Educators Foundation has established a fund to assist young people who are interested in teaching, but would need financial assistance to attend college.
Applications will be accepted if postmarked on or before January 15, 2009

Eligibility
In order to be eligible for a scholarship, an applicant must be a GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR, have demonstrated potential for effectiveness as a future teacher, and present evidence of need for financial assistance in attending college. Listed in alphabetical order are the specific criteria that is considered in selecting the recipients of scholarships.
- Ability to relate to and work with people of all ages.
- Academic aptitude and achievement.
- Commitment to service, with special interest in teaching children and youth.
- Economic need.
- Emphasis is placed on SAT and/or ACT scores. The acceptable score for SAT is 1,000 or above or ACT is 22 or above.
- Participation and leadership in activities of the school and community.
- Physical and mental health.
- Poise and ability to communicate effectively.
